Is it Just Age That Causes Erectile Dysfunction?
Erectile dysfunction (aka ED or impotence) commonly occurs to men who are older than 65. But this doesn’t mean that younger men cannot have ED. In fact, there are many young men who are not able to maintain an erection hard enough for penetration during sexual intercourse.
It’s true that older men have less often spontaneous erections, and to get an erection they may need more physical stimulation like touching for example.
Age is not the main cause of impotence. Impotence or ED can be caused due to other medical conditions, for example Hypertension, Diabetes, Atherosclerosis, and other diseases may cause erectile dysfunction.
Other causes of erectile dysfunction include: smoking, drinking alcohol, prostate surgery, kidney or liver problems, anxiety, depression, and others.
If you are taking other certain medicines/drugs, they may be the cause of erectile dysfunction (Ask your doctor about this).
In order to get a firm erection you have to be both physically and mentally relaxed, you and your partner as well. If you are having troubles in your relationship with your partner it may affect your ability to maintain firm erections during sexual activity. Always talk openly and honestly to your partner about any problems in your relationship and try to work things out.
Don’t be shy to ask for a doctor’s help/consultation if you have, or if you think you have, erectile dysfunction. There’s nothing to be ashamed of and remember that there are more men than you can imagine who have the same health problem.
